Dr Ryan is a specialist respiratory physician who treats a wide range of lung conditions and undertakes procedures such as bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), medical thoracoscopy, chest drainage and non-invasive ventilation.
He came to Herefordshire in 1996 to modernise, set up and develop a number of respiratory services. This has included multi-disciplinary teams managing more complex disease, flexible bronchoscopy, EBUS, medical thoracoscopy, intra-pleural chest drainage, non-invasive ventilation and treatment for sleep apnoea (CPAP).
Appointing and supporting talented colleagues has also lead to the development of other local services such as an excellent lung function laboratory, an oxygen therapy service, pulmonary rehabilitation and many nurse-led services.
Teamwork is very important and over this time links with Thoracic Surgeons from the Birmingham Heartlands Regional Thoracic Unit, Transplant Physicians from University Hospital Birmingham and Oncologists from the Cheltenham Oncology Centre have benefitted our patients enormously.
