There are many online resources available on the internet, the difficulty is often determining which are reliable. Below we have listed some links which we would recommend to our patients.

General Respiratory Websites

The British Lung Foundation

www.blf.org.uk has a variety of helpful pages and many useful patient information leaflets which can be downloaded from the ‘Support for you’ page http://www.blf.org.uk/support-for-you.

The NHS Patient Choices

The NHS patient choiceswebsite allows you to find information on numerous  medical conditions as well as symptoms such as breathlessness, https://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Pages/hub.aspx.

The British Thoracic Society

The British Thoracic Society is more of a website for clinicians http://www.brit-thoracic.org.uk but does publish Guidelines and Standards of Care.

Disease Specific Websites

Snoring, Sleep apnoea and Driving:  The Sleep Apnoea Trust

Provides very good independent information http://www.sleep-apnoea-trust.org  and also includes information about driving https://www.gov.uk/obstructive-sleep-apnoea-and-driving

The British Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Association

Useful information but is a more commercially orientated www.britishsnoring.co.uk.

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation

An excellent website providing a wide variety of resources and helpful factsheets on living with lung cancer and treatments https://www.roycastle.org.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support www.Macmillan.org.uk has a wide range of materials about all types of cancers and how to deal with symptoms and access support.

Mesothelioma UK

http://www.mesothelioma.uk.com.

Asthma UK

www.asthma.org.uk has a lot of asthma specific information and guidance.

British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI)

www.bsaci.org is predominantly for clinicians but has a useful and sensible resources section for patients with allergies

Action Pulmonary Fibrosis

www.actionpulmonaryfibrosis.org  has some useful information and support groups.
